Yogyakarta, a beloved destination during the holiday season, delights visitors with its exquisite cuisine and a plethora of tourist attractions. Among the newest additions is Gamplong Nature Studio, nestled in the tranquil Gamplong Hamlet of Sumberrahayu Village in Sleman. This location emerges as an idyllic photoshoot venue, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the world of cinema.
Originally a film set for Hanung Bramantyo’s “Sultan Agung: The Untold Love Story” in 2017, and later for “Bumi Manusia,” Gamplong Nature Studio transitioned into a tourist attraction post-production. Notably, the transformation was made official with an inauguration by President Joko Widodo on July 15, 2018, gifted by the then-regent, Sri Purnomo.
The studio’s main highlight, the Pendopo Serbaguna, remains a permanent fixture among the otherwise temporary sets. Visitors can explore various zones reflecting Indonesian culture and history, including the Kranggan Surabaya Replica Zone, Chinatown, VOC Fort, and a wooden terraced house—home to traditional culinary delights.
Now standing as a vibrant reimagining of a 16th and 17th-century Indonesian city, Gamplong Nature Studio captivates those keen to explore historical architectures or seeking stunning backdrops for photography. Its uniqueness and rich heritage background make it a must-visit for both domestic and international tourists, offering a vintage-themed escapade.
Operational daily from 09:00 to 17:00 WIB, Gamplong Nature Studio is also an excellent choice for family holidays. To visit, start from Point Zero Km, head west towards Jalan Wates KM 15, turn right at Klangon intersection, cross the railroad bridge, turn left, and follow the road to find the studio entrance approximately 300 meters after a field on your left.
Dive into the past and capture mesmerizing moments at Gamplong Nature Studio, Yogyakarta’s portal to history and cinematic wonder.
